Visiting a small town like Sudogda can turn out to be a real journey. Wonderful sights of Sudogda District with its beautiful nature and ancient historical places attract a lot of tourists nowadays.

An ancient tiny town stands on the left bank of the river Sudogda. There are a lot of legends connected with the name of the river. Spending time near the river residents enjoy swimming, fishing and watching funny ducks which live under the bridge all year round.

The Museum of Local History in Sudogda is worth visiting. You can learn about the history of the district and also see some antique furniture, books, photos and documents.

Some ancient churches have survived on the territory of Sudogda District. They are Saint Catherine`s Cathedral and Alexandr Nevsky Church in Sudogda, Church of Holy Martyr Tsarina Alexandra in Muromtsevo, Assumption Church in Moshok, Transfiguration Church in Spas-Kupalishche.

Khrapovitsky castle situated in the settlement of Muromtsevo is well known through our country. Immerse yourself in the history of the late 19-th century early 20-th while exploring the territory of Khrapovitsky estate, its buildings, its mysterious Barsky Pond and its park with some rare trees.

Sudogda District is often called “a forest diamond”. The thirds of its territory is covered by forests.

One of the most famous foresters of the 19-th century Karl Tyurmer planted forests consisting of highly productive crops of mixed coniferous species on an area of 3052 hectares on the territory of Muromtsevo estate.

Near the settlement of Bolotsky there is an unusual place where rock climbers and tourists like to spend time. It is Dyukinsky Karyer. Rocks were mined here since 1930. It is here that you can go on an interesting ecological tour and see the plants listed in the Red Book.

Sudogda District is rich of mushrooms and berries, picturesque places by the amazing river and woods.

Every year in September the region Day of the Forest takes place in the district. Travel to Sudogda on this holiday to have a wonderful time taking part in different funny contests and mushrooms quizzes. Or come here on another holiday, Mosquito Day which takes place in the Town Square “The Glade of Fairy tales” (better with your children). It promises to be full of fun, humor and enthusiasm.
